The Dwight Raby Band formed in October of 2003 out of the ashes of the local Atlanta band kool'haus. kool'haus members Dwight Raby and Ernie Evalobo recruited highly regarded bassist Allen Rodgers and decided on remaining a trio. Dwight's songwriting has made him a popular figure in the Emory University area and he plays both solo and in bands in local venues such as Park Bench, 10 High Club, Cajun Kitchen, and Fatt Matt's Rib Shack among many others over the past three years.
The band finds it's influences from many different musical places. Dwight is into classic soul (Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye) and new acoustic music, particularly of the local Atlanta variety (Jennifer Nettles, John Mayer). Ernie cites James Brown and P-Funk as his main influences. Allen finds his musical muse in bassists such as Berry Oakley, John Paul Jones, and Jack Bruce.
